Or, you may view DYING WISH, a moving film locally produced and directed by Karen Van Vuuren and Francesca Nicosia. Retired surgeon, Michael Miller; was a hospice patient with end-stage cancer; Based on his medica; expertise, he believed that stopping eating and drinking would ease his suffering and result in a peaceful, painless death. He also wished to leave a chronicle of his final days, as a way to educate others about living while dying and dying well, so he contacted Ms. van Vuuren and asked her to make this film. Punctuated by commentary from hospice professionals, medical ethicists, Dr. Miller himself, and his family members, Dying Wish provides an intimate portrait of one approach to embracing death. Dying Wish has screened at film festivals and is currently being used by hospices around the country for staff, volunteer, and patient education.
" An extraordinary, beautifully made film of a courageous physician facing his final days with the help of a loving family and supportive hospice team. It is thought provoking and reassurinf. Highly recommended" - Porter Storey MD, Author, Executive Vice President, American Acedemy of Hospice amd Palliative Medicine.
