Advancing Advance Care Planning: News from the Front

3:00 pm – 3:45 pm
Jennifer Ballentine, MA - The Denver Hospice

Even as the health care reform debate has dominated the national news, there are breaking developments on the advance care planning front in Colorado. The legislature last year established a new “class” of medical decision maker, the “designated beneficiary,” and this year has two significant bills in process: to revise the Living Will and to establish the Medical Orders for Scope of Treatment program. The Board of Health has approved revised regulations for the CPR directive. As well, the passage of the health care reform bill in Washington will impact every aspect of health care, including medical treatment decision making, advance directives, and end-of-life care. This session will provide briefings on all these issues with opportunities for questions and discussion from the audience.
